Shared Sites vs Clinical Sites

When it comes to scheduling on our site, we offer two options. There are Shared sites and there are Clinical sites. Each is very similar to the other, however, they both have distinct differences that may dictate which you decide to use. They are both intended to be locations in which students are assigned to organize a student’s schedule. However, the differences between them lie in who has control over them and who has access to them.

Starting with Clinical sites, these are sites that the school will have created. Clinical sites are used during the creation of opportunities. When an instructor or student creates a shift, they will be asked to select a location. The locations they see will be the school’s created clinical sites. With clinical sites, the school has complete control over the scheduling. They can create
opportunities at any time, with any hours categories, and any other number of unique features offered at Platinum Education.

On the other side are Shared Sites. These are locations that are managed and controlled by the site itself. For instance, if students are to be going to a specific hospital, they could have a shared site account on our software in which they can control the opportunities, the schedule (business hours), and which schools have access to which schedule.

There are bonuses to each type of site, which are mostly dictated by who needs to have control over the scheduling of students. Having shared sites allows the school to have a more hands-off approach by having the site create opportunities for students to sign up for. However, using Clinical sites allows the school to have more control over the options available. All features when it comes to the documentation or scheduling are available to both types of sites, and as always communication between the school and the shared site will be key to running the opportunities smoothly regardless of what site is used.
